molly and vic's wedding

Vic wrung his hands in nervousness as he paced in the courthouse.  I took a moment to admire his suit and tie, which made him look absolutely gorgeous, despite the nervous sweat that formed at his brow.  Placing a hand on his shoulder, I whispered, "Hey, don't worry, she'll make it."

"And I'll make sure she understands how important punctuality is," Gabe added, looking like he was going to take off his belt right there and deal with Violet as soon as she came through the doors.

"She's always late," Vic grumbled, pushing his hair out of his eyes and turning towards me.  He managed a half-smile.  "But I won't lie, I'm worried she's doing this on purpose because she's been pissed at me so much lately."

"Violet wouldn't miss this for the world.  Your her big brother, she loves you even through all that unfiltered anger."

Vic's aunt rattled something to him in Spanish, which caused his uncle to give the classic Esperanza Eye Roll.  They really were all alike with their fiery attitude.  As Vic answered, rolling his r's with the precision of a native speaker, we heard the door slam and collectively looked up to see Violet, rushing inside in a wrinkly lavender dress.

"So nice of you to make it," Gabe said, giving her a look that I could only interpret as I'll deal with you when we get home.

"Sorry, bro, the trains were a fuckin' mess."  She gave her brother a kiss on the cheek, then greeted her cousins and aunt, completely ignoring her uncle.  "Were y'all just waitin' on me?"

"Yeah, and you almost missed the cutoff time, but we're all here now.  Let's get moving."  I took Vic's arm, motioning with my flowers for everyone to follow me.  We signed in for the ceremony, then waited in hard, uncomfortable chairs to be called for the official vows and stuff.

Vic was much calmer now, joking around with his little sister.  My friend from school snapped photos of us with her new camera, hoping for a future career in photography and appreciating that I'd called on her to document our big event (she didn't realize this was less of a romantic moment and more of an emergency plan to help Vic get residency after immigration had raided his aunt and uncles house earlier this week).

My heart thudded in my chest as Gabe sat on the other side of me, typing out an email from his Blackberry (because it's 2011 and I think that's the phones that were around back then).  I was remembering our conversation last night when he had asked if I really wanted to go through with this.  Gabe wasn't opposed, but wanted me to know what I was getting myself into.

I mean, marriage isn't that big of a deal, right?  People do it all the time.  And half of them end in divorce.  I could, without a doubt, say that I loved Vic more than any guy I'd ever dated.  Vic had shown up for me more times than anyone else ever had.  He was already family.  There were zero fears that he would screw me over, because we already loved each other before making this decision.

"Victor Esperanza Sanchez and Molly Collins."  The tone was bored, a sharp contrast to the excitement I felt when I hopped up, dragging Vic with me.  I wrapped an arm around him, holding him close as we walked towards the officiant, everyone else trailing behind.

"Thank you for this," Vic whispered in my ear as we entered the small room.

A tall, bald man with caramel skin and glasses stood behind a podium.  He wore a smile upon seeing our crew arrive, Vic and me grinning ear to ear, like we're madly in love.

[[[idk why i decided to write this tonight, but i guess i have to take whatever inspiration comes to me in any given moment.  not sure if i'll ever do anything with this though]]]
