[not a story, i'm just trying to figure out what to do with molly...]
she's been with adam for a few months after having casually dated him in 2014, when he was married.
at the beginning of the story, things seem to be going well, but by chapter 14 molly's starting to get worried. violet has her a little more anxious than normal, trying to take care of her "little sister" while also caring for adam, who's mostly absent as he's grieving his divorce. adam has put his energy into work, which molly models. except the work she puts her energy into is emotionally draining, and comes at the cost of not having time to do paperwork.
molly doesn't want to be spanked in public, and she doesn't want to be shamed for her behavior. it's kind of a limit, but not really. she trusts toby to do whatever is in her best interest, so if he and the others believe she needs to be spanked in front of them all, she would allow it.
molly's close with vic, and they have been for a while. they may be the closest. vic is also close with toby, maybe a little romantic?
i guess molly and vic are married, she gets his health insurance plan hehe. that must be nice.
ok so yeah, ch14 is when she starts feeling most insecure about her relationship and job, especially after seeing violet in a mess. vic convinces her to call on toby for help, so she does.
the spanking is helpful that day — molly actually does some paperwork. but feelings that it won't work out with adam kind of take over again. and fears of not being good enough for her new job.
a week after the spanking, toby checks in to see if she's caught up. he can tell that something's up with her, but since she won't talk he doesn't push it. he's uncomfortable with the work-life overlap.
(ch21) molly feels bad about lying to toby, but doesn't think she can deal with his criticism in that moment. she feels worse about not doing her paperwork and asks violet to get her adderall. that also makes her feel guilty. and adam messages her that he has to go out of town for work, which just makes her feel worse, so she convinces gabe to stay after the meeting for snuggles.
she misses gabe.
she wants adam to discipline her like he used to, before they became an item. but now things were weird.
a few days later, she still hasn't completed the paperwork for her new job, and Toby has noticed. Instead of bugging Molly about it, he brings Gabe into the picture. They threaten to spank her at the next meeting if she doesn't get it done before. Gabe also gets Violet to paddle molly and grounds her from smoking, knowing she won't follow it.
(ch24?) flashbacks to meeting gabe, being under his care, feeling disciplined for once.
when molly talks to adam about wanting more discipline from him, he brushes her off, invalidates her feelings, tells her that she's acting like a child. something about it is harsher than when toby says it, but the same sentiment. all of her feelings were confusing, too gray and uncertain. thoughts spiral out of control. too many possibilities. she just needs something comforting and decisive. she goes to izaak.
izaak won't ask questions, but he takes the lead and doesn't leave any room for error. it's black and white with him. everything concrete. determined. simple.
she enjoys being "little" for the evening. the following morning she wakes up when he's leaving for running group and she whines, not wanting to be left alone, so he invites her to come along for the jog hehe. she declines. when he gets back home, he asks if she needs another spanking to motivate her to finish her homework, which she also declines, and then he sends her home.
again, molly catches up on her new job, still blowing off the old job paperwork. nobody knows, though, so she easily gets away with it. nobody expects her to lie, even though she's not sure why. she's as defiant as violet, but gets in trouble half as often. it's not fair.
the guilt is eating her alive because she's alone over the weekend. she's been avoiding adam because she's just done. work has consumed all of her time. she's crossing more boundaries than ever before. part of her wants to get caught and punished severely — like violet. another part is just too good at hiding what she's doing.
it's finally time for her to tell gabe. she capitalizes upon the opportunity because she isn't high for once, because she'd been with a client and her vape pen died, and she needed to get it over with.
gabe can see right through her efforts to keep the conversation positive. he lets her stall for a bit, but eventually she confesses everything. he's not angry with her, just stern. she spends the night with him and it's a huge contrast from izaak. gabe spoils her kinda, brings her breakfast in bed, offers to let her rest longer and that she can stay as long as she'd like.
the next day she's at the new job office when her suicidal client calls. her family doesn't believe in medication and she's almost 18 anyway. the plan is to ask toby to write the prescription, which she's nervous about because she assumes he'll say no and she really doesn't want to call child services. she goes to his office for at least a little pep talk, but he's super busy, rushed to leave. maybe he hands her the prescription for violet — almost 2 weeks after molly asked for it because violet couldn't get an appointment with her old psych. anyway, when he ripped off the prescription there was an extra paper with it. molly didn't even notice until he was already gone.
so she made it for her client. it was just for an anti-depressant, the lowest dosage, and almost certain the drug that the client needed.
because of vacation (having a week off work), molly was able to conveniently forget about the prescription, doing a little better at work because she'd almost completely cut off communication with adam, only a few messages here and there. especially when he wouldn't go on vacation with them. that's when she knew the relationship was over.
she was happy that vic wanted to go instead.
she was still jealous that violet took up so much attention from everyone. she's feeling not good enough to the extreme. depression is starting to get real.
but vic being back home really helps keep her in okay-spirits. it's like a high being around him again, hearing about his adventures in arizona, having him really listen to her and be interested in what she has to say. he didn't pay violet as much attention as the others, focused mostly on molly instead.
molly starts wondering if relationships are for her. she entertains the idea of a poly household. she starts chatting with people on the internet again.
the next day when she checks her voicemail, she has a message from an infuriated guardian after having found the medication. they want a meeting immediately.
panic-stricken, molly spends the night trying to think of a solution, smoking way too much weed and not sleeping more than a restless couple of hours. gabe is the only person she can call on, and she hopes that he just gets her off without finding out about the prescription.
of course that doesn't happen. and gabe knows that molly needs to confess to toby in order to clear her conscience. he doesn't even believe in the spanko stuff like that. but molly does. and gabe values loyalty, knowing how much toby means to molly. he's not one to think about morals often. it's just because it's molly. if it were violet, maybe things would've happened differently.
molly can't appreciate gabe yet, too worried about how toby will react. she doesn't realize that gabe is doing exactly what she's been wishing someone would do for the last few weeks. she's in too deep.
toby reacts worse than she would've imagined. he knows exactly the right buttons to push that will make her cry. he takes it too far, and izaak gets protective over molly, telling toby to back off. gabe dishes out the punishment, and molly's a mess. toby doesn't speak to her the rest of the meeting, leaving her in an icy silence.
gabe takes her home with him after the meeting to provide more aftercare. he asks about violet, and molly admits that violet thinks pattie cake is a friend of hers. gabe is able to put the pieces together. molly notices that and it sets her off again. she begs him not to say anything, but he promises nothing. but he doesn't say anything, not yet. he's patient enough to wait for violet to fuck up, which he definitely sees coming.
vic takes her out of town that weekend to vermont so they can chill and just have fun alone together.
that's when violet relapses and shortly after that figures out that molly told gabe. she's being petty about it, which is driving molly crazy.
