Boredom of Gabe, Violet, and Vic being gone was settling in. Sure, I had fun with Chloe, Izaak, and Toby, but it just wasn't the same without the others. We had the big family I'd always dreamed of, so when half of us were missing, something felt off.
Since the guys were busy with work, I mostly hung out with Chloe, usually finding her in the living room watching trashy reality tv and sipping on a glass of wine after I arrived home each evening. We took advantage of the freedom, mostly because it was easier than sulking in loneliness. And after finishing the bottle of wine, we both decided that we needed more alcohol. But there wasn't any in the kitchen, and Gabe didn't allow me near his fancy stuff (which was locked up anyway 🙄).
"Maybe someone has some in their room," I said 🤔
Chloe didn't ask questions and just followed me upstairs, first to Vic and Toby's room. Locked. I should've known. "You don't have a spare key for it?"
I shook my head. "Gabe holds onto that stuff. I would lose it." Blushing at admitting my absent-mindedness, I moved towards Izaak's room. (Idk if Izaak and Chloe are together or not...)
"Doubt he'll have any," Chloe said, and I agreed. He rarely drank.
Violet's room was next. Of course her door was unlocked... neither she nor I knew much about privacy.
"Where do you think she'd keep it?"
I grinned. "If we're lucky we'll find something better than alcohol, so look everywhere."
It only took us ten minutes for Chloe to find the ziplock bag of shrooms. "I've never tried. Have you?"
I shook my head. "I'm not even sure how much of it we take?"
Chloe shrugged. "YOLO?"
She sounded like Violet. I loved it!
An hour later, we laid next to each other on the fuzzy carpet in my "office" aka the basement aka my stoner sanctuary. Mellow Slipknot songs echoed in the room as I focused on the green... lava?... morphing into different shapes. My mouth hung open, stunned into silence with the music video playing in my mind. I was so far gone that I didn't notice Izaak calling out to us.
Not until he stood over me, blocking the light from my lava lamp. "What are you doing?" Izaak's hands were on his hips and his expression was annoyed, but he felt cartoony, almost like he didn't exist. "Hopefully not smoking, since you are grounded."
Normally my tummy would've twisted into knots at the reminder of having my weed taken away for poor behavior (so mean! 🥺), but the psychedelics had me in another dimension. "Nope, just chillin'."
I think he said more, but I was zoned out, only paying attention to my vision.
x-x-x-x
I woke up startled by the loud alarm, only comforted by the fact that I was latched onto Izaak's muscular body, even though he was moving and trying to pry me off of him.
"C'mon, kiddo, time to get up and ready for the day."
So he wouldn't bug me to get up with him, I finally let go, missing his warmth as I laid in his bed, stuck between sleep and awakeness. It was Saturday morning, so the guys would be home all day, which actually was kind of a bad thing because... um... they definitely figured out what we were up to last night. I think it was Toby's fault. It usually is.
Somehow I drifted back to sleep for another couple of hours, interrupted again by Izaak, this time actually demanding I get up.
"Let's go, Collins! Up and moving, or you know what will happen." An image of his evil wooden spoon came to mind and I pouted, but pushed myself up from the bed. Izaak stood there with his arms folded, serious expression on his face. Oof.. that made my stomach churn as I knew what was coming. "Breakfast, shower, meditation. Family meeting in the living room at 0800 hours sharp. That's 30 minutes." He snapped his fingers to hurry me up.
I, of course, was not downstairs on time, and Toby, Chloe, and Izaak waited impatiently for me.
"Sixteen minutes late. That's sixteen swats with the paddle."
My lower lip poked out. "Whaaaattt?? Noooooo... I didn't... You didn't... That's not fair!"
Izaak's grumpy face showed me that I wasn't going to win this, no matter how hard I tried.
"Have a seat," Toby ordered, pointing to a spot on the sofa next to Chloe. She looked adorable with identical pigtail braids to mine, still dressed in pajamas. When I plopped down at her side, Toby asked, "Where did you find psilocybin?"
Izaak folded his arms, standing up even taller which made me gulp.
Neither Chloe nor I wanted to talk, so we sat there in an awkward silence hanging our head as the men awaited a full confession.
