mom was a child of hippie parents who believed in free love and never had any structure or discipline. were very young when she was born. lived on a commune with little structure and a very idealistic perspective during childhood. moved around a lot, no stable foundation. parents used drugs? ended up in detroit in the 80s. poor. depression started during adolescence/middle school and began resenting parents.
mom's parents were about 17 (born 1955) when they had her (year 1972)
dad was a child of wealthy parents. father was also a con man, but never got caught. mother was a rebel from a wealthy family but took care of everyone, kept the house in order, still played the housewife role. dad was the youngest, mom's favorite, and very spoiled. siblings always resented him because he was a liar and got away with everything. father took a liking to him because he was the best at conning.
dad's parents were about 40 (born 1932) when they had him (year 1972)
chloe's parents met in high school, year 1986. chloe's mom was in foster care, and married dad in 1990, right after they both turned 18. she took care of him and gave him lots of attention (very narcissist/borderline). he had good jobs, only doing some cons on the side, hidden from her.
when mom's parents died, it sent her into a depression, which caused a lot of fighting, and infidelity on both sides.
chloe's parents were 20 years old when they had her (year 1992). they always suspected that he wasn't really her dad, but they swept it under the rug.
granny adored chloe from the beginning, because she came around the same time that grandfather passed away. they had instant chemistry, compounded because chloe's mom had postpartum depression.
chloe's early childhood, she lived in lansing with both parents. they fought frequently and sometimes sent chloe to live with granny for a bit. granny also kept bailing chloe's dad out, much to the disapproval of his older siblings.
as chloe grew up, middle childhood, mom was turbulent, sometimes short-tempered, sometimes dismissive. chloe learned to predict her mother's moods/triggers and walk on eggshells to keep the peace as much as possible. interactions with dad were 100% positive and indulgent. boundaries/limitations were undefined. chloe was able to be herself in front of her dad, and together they made art and played imagination (usually when chloe's mom was in a depression). granny was still in the picture, but did not affect chloe's attachment style yet.
age 7. mom left. chloe didn't go with her. when mom tried to get back in touch with her, granny didn't allow it, cutting her off completely. granny spoiled chloe much like she did her father to overcompensate for lack of mother.
late childhood: chloe lived only with her dad and they had an ideal life like in the movies. he didn't make her go to school that often, and started pulling more schemes, then had her joining him. until he got caught and had to go to jail for a couple of weeks, which meant chloe went to stay with granny and dad lost his home and they were going to have to move in with granny full time. he laid low for a bit, focusing on a real job sorta, unable to spend much time with chloe. but after probation was over, dad started back with the schemes, though with the threat of chloe being taken away, this time he didn't involve her.
middle school: dad co-working in cons and regular life. also has a girlfriend by this time. chloe is acting out as she's trying to get his attention.
he commits a serious crime and granny bails him out again, causing the rest of the family to finally disown them. they pull resources, making it tougher for the family to survive. dad promises to make it up so they don't lose her home.
chloe's starting to really resent him and now just taking care of herself. she doesn't care about school but sees the advantage of getting good grades, so starts pulling cons of her own to have her cake and eat it too.
she takes advantage of female friends, and enables male friends.
high school: exploring sexuality more. many unhealthy relationships, fluctuating from emotional musicians, dumb jocks, and computer nerds. she's a chameleon by now. everyone loves her. she doesn't feel like she has an identity.
