(additions to next chapter i might post)

Violet’s thoughts waking up:

Ugh this is such fucking bullshit having to wake up at the ass crack of dawn just to go do some stupid fucking exercises because my dumbass decided to make this deal with Izaak. I know, that’s not the real problem – it’s Clo.  How am I supposed to spend the weekend with her lying to my face like this?  I mean, there’s a slim possibility that she isn’t Pattie… and my mission is to solely get more evidence before ratting her out to Gabe or anyone else.

Maybe there’s something here that would help me figure it out?  Note to self: check her room for anything suspicious.  Also, get intel from Izaak.

Does he know?

On the way to running group:

Does he actually like her?  Why did they suddenly sleep together now?

I mean, I can’t blame Clo, he’s hott af.  The curve of his biceps sticking out from the sleeveless T-shirt.  His groomed facial hair hugging perfectly chiseled jaw and cheekbones.  The power in his large hands…

Oof… those thoughts sent something tingly down my body…

At running group:

Clo went immediately for Toby, as expected, flirtiness amped up.  I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous on behalf of Izaak, because what the fuck?  How do you fuck each other and then two days later kissing up to the doc as if Izaak doesn’t exist?

Glancing at Izaak, he really didn’t seem to mind.  How does he not mind?  Nah, he’s probably just good at hiding it.

He’s really good at hiding.  I guess that’s why he’s a fed.

As we fell into a circle to do the stretches, Vanessa ended up next to me.

“Why ain’t you by Toby?  Jealous of Clo?” I laughed, ignoring the glare I received from both Toby and Izaak.

Vanessa just ignored my words, which rubbed me the wrong way.

“Hey, yo, I’m talkin’ to you.  You don’t have to be so fucking rude that you didn’t acknowledge me at all.”

Now Vanessa’s narrowed eyes shot in my direction.  “Why are you even here?”

“To bug you.”

She gave the lamest eyeroll and turned her back towards me, focused on Izaak.  Which tickled me, too.  She’s the easiest target.

I tried to ignore my urges for a moment, mildly tamed by the fierce glare Izaak gave me, but mildly provoked by Toby giving 100% of his attention to Clo and none to me (not that I need his attention but… yeah, I have daddy issues).  So it only took about 2 minutes for me to reach forward for Vanessa’s bra strap to pop it.

“HEY!!!” she shrieked, wheeling around to smack the shit out of me.  I dodged her swing by hopping to the side, giggling profusely at how the red of her face deepened as she got angrier.

Everyone was staring at us now, completely unfocused on Izaak’s stretches.  “Bro, chill, I’m just messin’ with you.”

Izaak gave me an exasperated sigh and sent us all off for our laps, hanging back with me for a second.  He subtly grasped my upper arm, leaning down slightly to speak in a low voice, out of earshot from everyone else.  “Knock it off,” he warned.

“Starting to regret the bet?  I knew you couldn’t handle me,” I teased.

He let out a chuckle, then turned me slightly towards a pair of restrooms that sat near the track.  “I’ll ‘handle’ you before we get home if I have to.”

I mock-gasped.  “You wouldn’t.”

“Try me.”  And that tone plus the look he gave me made my tummy sink in a way that I knew he was serious.  When I didn’t answer, I could feel the smirk he was trying to hide, then he said, “eight laps.  Get moving.”
